On the occasions between delurking in here I've witnessed Pinkerton
launch
many verbal (well, ASCII anyway) attacks on people. In this thread,

The guy clearly has issues. He's found himself a home in my killfile on
this particular thread, so he can go and content himself with listening
to
teenybopper music recorded on unbranded Type I cassettes with no noise
reduction, through a midi system with speakers connected with bell wire,
whilst fantasising about molesting under-age sheep.
He has launched the same verbal attacks on many, including
John Byrns, and Patrick Turner, two of the most
knowledgeable people in the field of audio on Usenet.
So you are in very good company:-))
I hope that Stewart will accept my invitation, and look
forward to welcoming him on a recording session in
the very near future.

Mmmm should really be second nature to anyone in that industry. When
broadcasting there were times when the on-air studio seemed like Piccadilly
circus, folk coming and going for multitudinous & legitimate reasons,
sometimes guests having a tour or hourly news readers, sometimes the next
presenters in just for a chat... but as soon as a mic opened (red light)
everyone automatically shut up & froze. An automatic reaction acquired
quickly by newbies through necessity or a very thick ear!!!

Another typical lie from the Churches of the poison mind. I have
launched several attacks on *posts* by Byrns and Turner, who are
indeed knowledgeable - but not always correct. Churches OTOH is a
bitter old clown.

Ah, so Churches is not even the recordist, eh? :-)

Quite so.

No there is no "recordist".
There are however two recording engineers, of
which I am the senior. There is also a technical
engineer and two sound assistants.
This is our standard team, which can be
increased or decreased as required.
We look forward to having you with us, Stewart.

But you presumably don't do the actual recording, but the sound mixing or
balance? So why be so worried about being called a recording engineer?
And FWIW, engineer means something rather different to me - and most.
There are plenty of the most skilled music balancers who don't have much
in the way of 'engineering' knowledge. And plenty of skilled true
engineers who wouldn't know where to start...
After all in these days of digital you simply press a button. The skills
of lining up and fettling analogue machines are hopefully long since gone,
but in any case not done by the senior person.

Exactly.
In his desperation to be called an 'engineer', he seems to have
totally forgotten where his real skills lie, particularly when he
spends inordinate amounts of time sneering at real engineers, who
would be happy to acknowledge his superior musical skills. Like I
said, he's a snide arsehole, but none too smart.

Ay, there's the rub for him - all those hard-won vinyl skills are now
totally worthless. I really don't think he can deal with this, which
may explain his flight to the land of the midnight dark.
I might be more sympathetic, were he a different person............
