Spent an interesting day doing a video shoot, using a Yamaha piano -
sounded
very nice and balanced. Haven't a clue what age or model though so I guess
the reputation for bright sounding may only apply to certain ones.
Well, that still depends on what the tuner does with the hammers - and
that will depend on what he is asked to do.
Now that's a coincidence!
Had the Pee Anna Choona here *today* and the conversation quickly got to
'hifi'!! (Sparked off by spare speakers stacked here and there - nowt I
said, I didn't start it!!)
Turns out he likes music and plays a lot of it, but only has 'cheap kit' and
has had his speakers for 40 years - he can't remember the name of them but
said they were 'SOTA' at the time and the company went bust soon afterwards.
(??) He got rid of his vinyl a few years back and likes CDs, was tickled to
see valves back in use! Mentioned 'Quad electrostatics' out of the blue and
said he thought they were marvellous! (Gawd...) Knew 'Jim Marshall' of
Marshall Amps. (valve connection after the usual - can you still get them
questions.)
So, I grabbed 'his ears' and got him to listen to some of my stuff he liked
it (hadn't been paid at that point), said he thought my Needles (blue) were
'good' and had a 'good piano sound' and preferred them to the larger (pink)
