TDK MA-XG90 Metal cassette tapes

Were these really *that* good? I remember buying a couple about 10
years ago and trying them in my Naka CR-3e and not being that
impressed given the cost premium over mainstream cassettes

Weren't they good on dynamic range, but you paid heavily in
distortion?

Only of historical interest now of course.
