Given the choice I'd rather have a Symphony without Bose in my new TT
but, annoyingly, they won't/can't fit a Symphony into a TT so I'm
having to stick with a 'Concert II'. I was hoping the Bose upgrade
might compensate a little but I think I'm going to stick with the
standard system and spend the £400 on the 6-pack CD and cruise
control.

Cruise control in a TT??

Isn't it sad that you spend all that money on a nice car you then have to
spend more on accessories which should be included as standard.

I think things like cruise control should be standard spec these days.

It's a SPORTS CAR, fer krissakes!!

All
cars are pre-wired anyway so all they do is add a chip to the ECU and that's
about it. Another great rip off is the autochanger. The car is pre-wired but
they want to charge hundreds of pounds to plug in a changer which is worth
around £100.

Agreed, but unfortunately it's an absolute nightmare retrofitting a
changer to a TT because you have to rip out a lot of the interior.
Definitely a factory fit job! OTOH, I fitted an Alpine changer to my
A4 for £150, and it took about half an hour - including metal-bashing
to extend the bracket for the bigger changer.

The yanks have it right. You buy a Jeep for instance and everything is just
standard.

Unfortunately, it's still a Jeep! :-)

The standard Germany spec on Audi cars too is much better than the
UK spec. It's "rip the Brit's off" again and again and ...

Actually no, base spec German models are not up to UK spec, which used
to catch out the personal importers. Given the present price
comparisons, I'd stop whining about that one.

Anyway, I'd stick to the standard system too cos at the speeds you'll be
driving your noisy Audi at you'll never be able to appreciate another £400
spend!!

It's not too bad on smooth roads up to 120 or so. Ahem, that's smooth
German roads of course, officer.............

For £400 (about $US600, right?), you can do a *hell* of a lot better with an

Possibly (or not), but the Bose upgrade system is specifically
tailored to each Audi model, including preset multiband EQ.

To be fair, the new V6 TT includes pretty much everything as
standard - the only extras are things like cupholders, the Bose stereo
and cruise. I do a lot of motorway driving so need the cruise but it
*is* a shame it's about the only thing they don't offer as standard

And $25 worth of speakers marked up 900%.

No EQ can compensate for paper cone drivers and missing tweeters.
