OK Martin, how's this for a bright idea?

http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/item...emsforsale.htm

If you post prices you scare people off, if you (I, not 'you') don't post
prices you (you, not 'I') start moaning at me! So I've turned my For Sale
page into a mini *non eBay auction* - people email me with a 'maximum bid'
and either win there and then or I say 'Reserve Not Met'!! (They either bid
again or simply bugger off!!)

No hassle, no eBay palaver (feedback ********) and my Reserve Prices will
obviously fluctuate with the wind direction on any given day - ie, if I get
a good result on one item, the next one could be *very* barginacious. I know
roughly what I want back ('course I bloody do) but some days will have me
keener to shift stuff than others and I only want an overall return, until I
have moved enough stuff outta tha house!! :-)

What do you think - brilliant idea or does it suck?

(Could it be the end of eBay proper, as we know it?? :-)

Hmm. Well, it would help if you'd show the current maximum bid,
like Ebay does. Also, how long are you gonna wait to get a decent
maximum bid? 1 week? A month? I guess just until you feel that
you've had a decent bid, which is fair enough.

Unfortunately, much as I want your valve monoblocks, and that
lovely turntable, and the 'scope, right now, impecunity keeps me
out of the game. :-( Hell, even that Dynaco cheap valve amp.

I already have the Marantz CD63 MkII SE though! :-)

As for the speakers, well, mine are just ****ing mint as they are!
(Dynaudio Audience 52SE)

That turntable really looks gorgeous though! I have a Pink Triangle PT TOO,
which is good, but if I had the money I'd get that turntable off you!
I'd use my cartridge though, not some Shure effort! (Sumiko Blue Point
Special Evo III). It's a very easy cartridge to kill by clumsiness though,
cos it's "nude", and I've killed 2 already! I actually have nightmares
about killing this one from time to time. Seriously.

Good luck with it anyway.

No, that's not how it goes - someone emails 'I'll bid x for y' and I say
it's yours (if halfway reasonable) or I simply say 'Reserve Not Met' - that
way they can bid again or say 'sod it' and no-one gets into a bind over it.
(Note I've removed all the ******** - if they don't know what they're
bidding for they don't deserve to get the kit cheap!!)

Hmm, perhaps it's a bit obscure?? - Any 'acceptable' bid is immediately the
succesful 'maximum bid' and will be accepted - instanter!

As to time - after tomorrow (when a pair of speakers will go) there's no
great rush on any of it, now that I've racked most of it up in the coat
cupboard, other than the keyboard's taking up too much room!! (That's gonna
get given to a nearby school I suspect - it's brand new, conditionwise!!)

Jeez, you are as bad as me!! :-)

Anyway, the scope's yours if you can get it collected - I've bid 1p for it
on your behalf and accepted it!! (Seriously!!)

(Includes 3 books and unopened probe set! :-)

Not ****e are they?? (Nearest thing to 'vinyl replay' you'll get with a
CDP - I ain't gonna weep if it don't go!! ;-)

Very nice too - but you do need a bit of grunt to make them go!!

Er, I shouldn't say this on a public forum (foot/gun again) - that bloody
TT' *is* a cart killer (when you keep moving kit about like I do) - I've
killed a couple on it myself!! The reason I don't use it is because, despite
being the best deck here by far, it doesn't use headshells and it don't pick
the arm up at the end of a record - how fekkin' lazy can you get?? :-)

Good luck with it anyway.

Thank you - organise a pickup on that scope (right on the A1 at St Neots -
'Home Of The Chav') and gimme a shout direct!!
