Hi,

I seem to have some issue with a tweeter on one of my keihlids, in-so-much
that its not working.

I had a mishap and dropped the speaker 2 inches onto a marble floor, no
visible damage, but no tweeter.

Could it be a number of things or is it just the tweeter is busted, is
there an easy way of finding out, short of moving the good tweeter into the
bad speaker?

I'd be inclined to consider a damaged connection or maybe a loosened
crossover component. Anything rattling around inside the box? It might be
worth taking a driver out (or panel off, etc) to check out the bits inside.
If there's nothing obvious, a tweeter swap should answer your question.

That seems the easy way, if you see no obvious damage.

So unscrew the tweeters and swap them. You keep TELLING us this is
the easiest route. Why won't you take it?

I have no idea. If it's a sealed box, access to the crossover is probably by
removing the woofer(s). If you can't look at them and work out how to get
in, maybe you should take them to someone who can.

Is there something moving about in both boxes, or just one? If the latter,
is it the box with the fault? Does the rattle move around inside the box as
it's tilted? You don't have to shake them - just move them end over end. If
the the noise 'drops to the bottom' every time you turn them over, something
has come off, but if the noise tends to stay in one place, it could be that
one end of a wire has come loose and is hitting the inside of the box in its
vicinity.

screw it, i'll find a dealer in spain and send to them, too hot to frig
around juggling speakers.

So you want to solve the problem, but won't take the easiest first
step offered? Why bother to ask then? :-)

I asked if there was an easier way - short of moving the tweeter. I want to
the problem to be solved, but im not farting around in 35C heat - it's
****ing warm in August down here.

Anyway, time for a nap.

Still sounds f'in amazing though, even with one tweeter. Incredible this

Hmm, post nap it appears that the lower bass unit is also ****ed. Took a
butchers inside -- found some energy -- and appears that the only bit of
kit inside is the crossover, which I presume is buggered.

Tomorro I may find the energy to swap a driver, to confirm the above
theory...
