Default Grado or Sennheiser

Hi guys,

I am an avid listener of jazz (low bass) and so far have been
listening using $50 TDK headphones. I am planning to go shopping for
something like a grado or sennheiser or bose.

Any suggestions on what technical specs I should be aware of would be
of great help. My budget is around AUD $200-$300.

Regards

Max

Like speakers, headphones are person taste but to my ears pound for
pound(dollar for dollar!) the Grado's would be my choice as to me they
impart less colouration and let you hear more detail compared to all
the rest. Have a listen to them though against sennheiser and make up
your own mind.
Regards,
Borosteve.

Thanks for the suggestion. In my past hour or so of research on google
I came across Alessandro MS1. Some reviews say they are the Grado's
rebadged. Is that true? If not then how loveable are these?

Iam looking for some good (yet not boomy) bass.

Regards

Max

You don't say if you're looking for open backed or totally enclosed
headphones, but if the latter, then the AKG K270 are my personal favourites.
AKG have now upgraded the K270 to K271 (Looks a new totally new 'phone) so
it would be worth a listen.

I guess considering my existing TDK's are closed. I would like to
consider open for a change. I guess a listen to some of them wll help.

Save some more and listen to Sennheiser's models 600 and 650. Not
cheap but worth every cent.
