Anything by Creative Labs gets my vote.
In the main though get some decent headphones. Sennheiser CX300s or
Creative Labs own.
Have a look on Amazon.co.uk
And don't worry about OGG AAC or any other sort of codec advice. When
you're listening on a coach it won't make any difference.

Well, I have a Creative Muvo and my wife has an iRiver, and in my opinion
the iRiver sounds vastly superior (even with the same headphones - the
iRiver came with Sennheisers), although I prefer the user interface and
styling of the Creative.

We listen to Ogg Vorbis on the iRiver and WMA on the Creative, so that might
account for some of the difference, but the iRiver sounds much more punchy.
