You go on about crap TV - and now how good JIS was - but don't listen to current drama on the radio? And you're often at home in the afternoon? Try it. There's some superb stuff there. Sorry to disabuse you but I rarely get an afternoon where I could just loll around listening to the radio.... I find I 'fit' the characters with the 'nearest actor' in the case of 'unknowns' - which is another way TV craps up radio! Not always these days. I've a feeling that radio casting sometimes takes into account the looks of the actor - as chances are many will know that from TV. You're saying that the BBC can predict which actor I will envisage when I hear a particular *unknown* then? (I didn't realise they were getting that sophisticated!) -- *Remember not to forget that which you do not need to know.* Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

That's the beauty of radio - you can listen to it while doing other things. Admittedly not things which require much concentration if a drama but then just what are you concentrating so hard on in the afternoon? -- *Atheism is a non-prophet organization. Admittedly not things which require much concentration if a drama but then just what are you concentrating so hard on in the afternoon? All sorts - this afternoon I was playing with/cleaning my bikes mostly in the garage where I take great delight in the Roberts FM radio which invariably kicks off with summat nice (Mahler, quite often) but I have to admit, after a short while I'm not usually listening too closely! Same in the car... - *Atheism is a non-prophet organization. Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

Listening recently, I was amused by the naivete of it all. Nobody aboard seemed to understand how rockets worked; they could decide on a whim to "go over there" despite the impossibility imposed by orbital mechanics. Great adventure, though. d -- Pearce Consulting http://www.pearce.uk.com |

(in message ): A friend of mine used to be a dentist, and one of his patients turned up one day complaining that he was receiving Radio 1 on one of his fillings. "At least", he pleaded, "could you change it to Radio 4?" my ordinary cabled landline phone plays R4, which is kind-of irritating; at least it's not dimwitted commercial pop radio |
