If I'm closer, I'd take it - just to save you the delivery costs. :-)
Generous to a fault as ever.
Jim if are you still looking for another V15 III body for your test
series then I have one I can donate if you email me an address to send
it to,
Yes, please! I'll email my address to you. :-)
Note, though that I have now gone on to other topics for a while. So there
will be some articles on loudspeaker/room effects and cables 'in the
pipeline'. But I do plan some more on LP replay.
also a Decca London (gold, i think) which you might like to
play with.
Again, yes please if you no longer want it.
The MR stylus pictured in the latest article looks an odd beast in
comparison to the others does it not?
Indeed. I wonder if anyone these days can replicate anything like it! For
that reason your letting me have another V15III body will be useful as I
can use it to try out 'third party' styli, etc.
I'd not had a chance before to do such a visual comparison. I was quite
struck by just how small the MR stylus was compared with the modern ones! I
took care to take all the photos in the article with the same optical gain,
to give an accurate view of the comparitive sizes and shapes. The modern
trend seemed to be for large chunks of diamond, glued in place with a big
blob of adhesive. Alas, the most extreme example being on the Shure Mx97.
Chalk and cheese when examined under the microscope.
I presume this contributes to the V15 series having very low tip mass, and
able to track well at low downforces and mininal wear.
Slainte,
Jim
