5 x classical
3 x James Last Orchestra (yeah!)
1 x Bert Kaempfert (yeah!, again)
1 x Cyril Stapleton Orchestra
1 x The Muppet Show (I'd love to hear that)

They're in Cardiff, and can be posted.

If your bachelor pad's soundtrack needs a little bolstering, these will
do the trick.

My mind is boggling on so, so many levels.

Well - actually, a proper bachelor would save the 8-tracks for the car,
and I'm sure it would be a Mazda with the gearshift on the steering
column.

In the bachelor pad itself, a reel-to-reel machine would be the chief
delivery mechanism for the Bert Kaempfert and James Last. Maybe the
bachelor would even have one of those dinky new Compact Cassette
players.

Anyway, the tapes are there for anyone who wants them. I see that people
sell them on eBay still, but for a couple of pounds each it hardly seems
worth it. I spotted them in a charity shop - they were just about to get
rid of them.

Indeed, as this allows for a bench front seat which facilitates
closeness.

Must be reel to reel. Revox or Tandberg mounted upright in the
bookshelf at head height.

Without question.

I feel a Revox is more the choice of the dedicated audio enthusiast, and
the Tandberg of the family man. Don't you think an Akai (one with logic
control, not mechanical controls) would be more appropriate for the
bachelor?

The Akai 4000DS was the standard machine in every self-respecting bachelor
pad in my young day!

I used to have an 8-track cartridge, it was "Diamonds and Rust" by Joan
Baez. There was a bit where tape had been damaged which of course came round
4 times during the playing time of the album. Oh, and one track had been
split across two "quarters" - a bit naff. I copied it to a cassette when my
wife made get rid of the 8-track player. Then I did what I should have done
in the beginning and bought it the CD!

I have a working '8-track' player/recorder and would happily dub it off to
any standard you want. Even Elcassette. ;-)

Oh happy days... had an 8 track in my DB5, speakers in the rear arm rests.
sounded OK to me (but this was the seventies) and over any kind of bump the
cassette fell out. And there was one in the pilots' mess at Biggin Hill;
unfortunately there was only one tape, and it played "Tears of a Clown"
interminably. Must be a whole generation of aeroplane drivers out there who
can sing along to it....
