just bought the old style Linn Majik amp on ebay, its in mint condition but
I didn't get any instructions or manual with it, thing is when powered off
and then back on the volume resets to a level that is far too high, roughly
over half way and also the last selected source doesn't stay and it always
reverts to cd, can someone tell me if this is normal and is there a way to
adjust these settings, cheers

Did it come with a handset controller?

Mine doesn't do those things, but it may be even older than yours.

The start up volume may be set by a link inside the box, which can be either
set to 15 or 30. The CD start up might be a fixture. There is a Wakonda
manual on the Linn site at http://www.linn.co.uk/owners_manuals As I recall
the Wakonda and Magik integrated amp were similar.

Later Linn products are configurable in software and and remember settings.
The Kolektor was very good at that, shame about the sound quality though.
