While I'm on the subject, check the *size* of the main 'Full HD
1080p' cinema setup now:

Keith, that is just bonkers :-)

Here y'are Rob, a couple of snaps I have taken of screen logos (cropped
somewhat) specifically to give my son an idea of the image quality we're
getting atm (on brand new kit, not yet fully set up) that I thought
might give you some idea of why we *bother* with it:

....and a 'quick and dirty' fullscreen pic which has come out a bit
contrasty compared to the image we're getting on the screen but it will
give you an idea of the *impact* of the 'bigger picture':

Trust me, when moving, that is pin sharp - full HD 1080p from BD disk to
screen with none of the up/down/up/down/up/downsampling mumbo jumbo that
Barmy Arny was frothing on about the other day! See the number display
on the Toppy peeking out under the screen for an idea of size!! (About
90" wide, allowing for a small border!!)

Well, mightily impressive - photos pretty good too - are they taken with
one of your film lenses?

The/a thing for me would be yet another format change. It was only 5
years since I chucked all my videos, and I'm quite comfortable with DVD
rips to hard disk. I've got it so that less than 1GB/DVD gives me decent
quality by my standards.

Of course, this will be a problem if (well, when) I upgrade the TV. But
then I'm quite happy listening to cassettes :-)

Yes, that would be the 28/2.8 Nikkor - which equates to a 42mm with my 'crop
factor'.

All the pix I have posted since I've been back here are manual focus/manual
exposure, ie *auto nothing* (which is photography's equivalent of playing
vinyl, I guess! :-) - usually with a light whiff of 'Unsharp Mask' and
maybe cropped, otherwise without PP.

Forget Bluray then - a typical *movie only* is usually over 20 Gig and the
whole disks (including all the extras) are often to the limit of the 50 Gb
disk - about 48 Gb or so!

Here's a 'bokeh' shot from Eagle Eye for you:

I couldn't resist it! :-)
