Default Cheepie Chinese 300B SET: Epilogue

I suspect *dozens* of you are dying to know (but far too polite to ask) what
happened to the cheepie Chinky 300B SET I got from HK a while back and which
was the subjest of so much fun here! ??

Well, I sold it to a guy from a village just outside Cambridge for what I
paid for it!

He came to pick it up, spotted the Dynaco MkIIIs that I also had at the time
and promptly had them as well for a few quid less than I had paid for them a
few years earlier! (So forget all the horse poo you will see in ads for
'classic' valve stuff hinting at 'appreciating investments' and all that
malarkey! :-)

That little clear-out chopped me nicely down to the two valve amps I had
built myself and which are *family* (or at least one is) and my Denon and
dear old Pioneer SS amps - ignoring the Sony HT setup. However, the Pioneer
has gone and got itself a bit noisy and, rather than start buggering about
with it, I've got the itch for summat nice and new. Any recommendations?

I also don't want/can't afford silly money 'boutique' stuff like MF!
Secretly, I'm tempted to buy a multichannel HT amp for futureproofness, but
I guess the spec is summat like 30-50 watts, two channel, good build
quality, nice knobs and a *good* onboard phono stage (essential) for less
than a grand or, better yet, *way* less than a grand!....??

I've had an eye in the direction of a Sugden (21a?) but I need an amp with a
*good* phono stage and the Sugden is a bit pricey - plus I also don't really
know what they are like or if they are any good?

Anyway, TIA as ever....
