Ah - the Classic FM syndrome.

OK, not strictly true - I meant 'chosen music replay' - I actually listen to
more radio than anything else, as I have it on all day long and very often
listen into the wee small hours when some of the most sublime stuff is on.
(Hence posts here at silly o' clock, sometimes!)
I don't know how it happens, but Classic FM usually goes very good indeed in
the evenings while Radio 3 is getting far too good at broadcasting a 'Cello
Masterclass' or some such *talky* thing just when you don't need it!

Yes Classic FM has its moments but is processed to death and as you say
Radio 3 is too much rabbit..
What's needed is a Radio Three and a half which they could put on
digital assuming that we had a good digital radio system...

I can't stand Classic FM. Not only is it processed to death as you say, but
it also interrupts the music far too often for those indescribably awful
adverts (why are radio adverts so much more irritating than TV ones?). But I
also agree that there is far too much rabbit on R3, particularly in the
evenings.
What's needed is a Radio Three and a half which they could put on
digital assuming that we had a good digital radio system...
Or change Radio 3 into a proper classical music station and put the rabbit
on a new digital-only station?
David.

Well, why not sign up to the Friends of Radio 3 at
http://www.for3.org/
They have had some success in reducing the rabbit and other tendencies
(my hates would include foreign pop (AKA world) music.
Cheers

I wonder if it's down to cost? Its peak audience will be during the day -
and much of the rabbit would be cheap to make, compared to the cost of
playing most music.

You listening to David Mellor on CFM this afternoon (now)?
He gets on my nerves a bit with his hall ting dell liver E, but his shows
(and picks) are top notch!
Caruso and Moreschi on 78s just now - *sublime*!! :-)

The 'horns' help no end with the 'processed' sound, I find....
