Indeed. I don't see how any one poster can "destroy" a newsgroup. Most of
the time I ignore him, when he gets too irritating I just kill-file him.
Once you get used to his abusive language he's more amusing than anything
else. It is a shame because he does know his stuff and can make sensible
contributions to threads. Unfortunately it all then rapidly descends into
his being abusive to everyone else who posts to those threads (as though
having contributed to a thread himself, it has somehow or other become his
exclusive property).

These sort of audio groups seem full of weirdos. One or two on here too.

Except that Phil isn't that sort of weirdo. He's not spending a fortune on
audio kit that is stuck in the technology of 70 years ago.

You had just better hope that Philthy doesn't get too
comfortable here as you will never get rid of him ;-) A bit
like a louse infestation ;-)

BTW this keyboard hero only ever targets people at a
distance i.e ones that wont drive around to his bed-sit and
smack him in the mouth! Although there was one guy, called
roughplanet, that was going to drive from Melbourne to
Sydney (1,000ish kms) and drag him into the street. Philthy
then rang him and pleaded for his life :-)) It was a very
funny episode in Philthy's miserable, sad life.

Although he can make a useful contribution, just as often he fails to
read the problem properly, or gets a fit of foaming mouth too soon and
goes off at a tangent. All the explanation in the world won't then
make him see how he has got it all wrong. He is pathologically right.

I found the opposite. With time his incessant tirade of abuse meant less and
less. And, as I said, if it does start to get to you just kill-file him, it
isn't difficult. You can't take it personally as it's just the same few
epithets that are fired off at anybody and everybody for any reason or none,
it'd be funny if it wasn't so sad. Actually I feel sorry for him as he
clearly does have a serious personality disorder.

Oh but it's said about this group too. Plenty of girl's blouses read it,
it seems, but are scared to post in case someone disagrees with them. So
prefer a cosy email 'knitting group'. Even although those who've stated
that here are among the most foul mouthed and or objectionable.

I'd say there simply isn't enough to discuss. And go to the more obscure
parts of audio gets the 'music is all that matters' types foaming at the
mouth. There's only so much can be said about vinyl and what you use to
play it.
