Indeed. I don't see how any one poster can "destroy" a
newsgroup. Most of the time I ignore him, when he gets
too irritating I just kill-file him. Once you get used to
his abusive language he's more amusing than anything
else. It is a shame because he does know his stuff and

Except that Phil isn't that sort of weirdo. He's not
spending a fortune on audio kit that is stuck in the
technology of 70 years ago.

Note that Terry Tencer (TT) and Andy Evans (AE) pretty well destroyed
aus.hi-fi trying to ostracize a number of posters that they don't agree with
including Phil A. They blame Phil for the burnt-out status of that group. No
doubt they are prone to repeat the process here.

Get Phil on a good day and he's an excellent source of technical
information. TT and AE lack the resources to be useful technical resources.
PhilA can be a bit on the excitable side, as we all know.

don't even know what it is. You are talking out of your arse. If you

You had just better hope that Philthy doesn't get too
comfortable here as you will never get rid of him ;-) A bit
like a louse infestation ;-)

BTW this keyboard hero only ever targets people at a
distance i.e ones that wont drive around to his bed-sit and
smack him in the mouth! Although there was one guy, called
roughplanet, that was going to drive from Melbourne to
Sydney (1,000ish kms) and drag him into the street. Philthy
then rang him and pleaded for his life :-)) It was a very
funny episode in Philthy's miserable, sad life.

I found the opposite. With time his incessant tirade of abuse meant less and
less. And, as I said, if it does start to get to you just kill-file him, it
isn't difficult. You can't take it personally as it's just the same few
epithets that are fired off at anybody and everybody for any reason or none,
it'd be funny if it wasn't so sad. Actually I feel sorry for him as he
clearly does have a serious personality disorder.

I agreee with you that to simply "laugh it off" does seem the
best solution, but there is a serious, much more insidious side to
all this.

Consider, David that you are a freelance designer, audio tech,
sound recordist, musician or whatever. You are working hard
trying to build a reputation/ relationship with an important new
client. Or you are a staff engineer going for an interview for a
new post. Your client/future employer types your name into
Google and comes up with an NG thread entitled
"David Looser is a demented pommy f*ckw*t"
This is not likely to make a good impression:-(((

Your client does not know about Phil's illness, or the circumstances,.
just sees the subject line.
