Leaving UKRA might be overkill, Kitty. You could just try to firit grow a
brain. ;-)

Aw....

Amy's just happy to be out of my ****ter - I can tell!

Just so long as he realises it's got a mind of its own and also, any time
now, my current ISP (Swim's, actually, these days - she uses it for work)
'ADSL24' is apparently divorcing itself from wholesale provider 'Entanet'
and as I get this newsfeed from 'news.enta.net' my departure from this
august assembly might be both soon and a bit sudden.....

:-)

In my view, listening is listening. be it at a concert,
a rehearsal or from speakers.

But the group is not called uk.rec.listening

Neither is it called uk.rec.dancing_on_the_head_of_a_pin

Well I gave a dictionary definition of the word 'audio'. You appear to be
yet another Humpty Dumpty.

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it
means just what I choose it to mean--nether more nor less."

"The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many
different things."

"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be the master--that's
all."

This from Kitty who so much dislikes being called Kitty yet started the
name calling on here.

Says it all, really.

Based on reading the collected works of Iain for
several years,

Pity you haven't learned anything from him in those
years...

Not true. I've learned quite a number of reasons and
methods to avoid acting like a doddering fool. First is
trying to stay on topic, and second is try to only talk
about something that you have personal experience with.

Posting about my experiments and experiences here (with
all those lovely little pix, links and soundbytes) only
gets accusations of 'blogging' from your Pooch - make
your minds up....

If that's all you did Kitty, there would be no problem.

Tech directors in the BBC?, this isn't a European broadcaster you

Surely there must be one, for TV and also radio?

Tony or Dave can probably give chapter and verse on this better than
myself. However the general impression is that all 'technical' and
'engineering' at the BBC has been 'outsourced' to companies like
Nemesis... er Siemens. This has produced what could be said to be "mixed
results".

The iPlayer seems to me to be excellent (shame if you can't fully access
that as an 'alien'). But I suspect many people in the BBC would (if
allowed) tell you what they *really* think of the phone systems and
other technical shmutter they have been given to use. IIRC BBC Scotland
has been 'off air' or 'on autopilot' more than once recently...

The whole automated playout thingie is a joke. On TV progs not made
originally in the part lengths now demanded just chop in and out
regardless. Automated station announcer volume levels etc are all over the
place - and not just 'louder' either. ;-) No machine has a hope in hell of
replacing a human to do this with some artistry - and probably never will.
It was never done that well before - now it's just a very bad joke.

Oh look, Arny's doing his 'bathing in reflected glory'

seriously.

You could answer the same question Mr. Combs, but in reality you couldn't.

Hello, Amy's gone into maximum unintelligibility mode.

And as it turned out it was one of the most interesting
threads for a long time, OT or not, with a good number
of replies.
It was pretty strong until the dancing girls crowded out
the seminar leaders.

You know that was almost a witty reply, I presume you
copied it from some other persons post somewhere.

It was obviously...//whack

You late for your meds again Amy? You are so slow that the term 'obvious' used
in any of your posts is an oxymoron.

Yeah, Amy's got such a low opinion of herself that she regards any recognition
at all as a plus.
