Call me daft but I like a little 'Hammond' - especially in the
backing! :-)

Yeah, nothing fancy - smooth chords with little twiddles on the Leslie and
vibrato to run with the feel of the tune.

Got the keyboard and sound module set up, and I've been reminding myself how
to get the various sounds. (The module is a Hammond GM-1000, and the
keyboard is a CME UF7 76-key jobbie.) I stuck it in front of the piano, so I
can't get to that now, which means any keyboard meanerings will be on the
organ instead. The octaves are slightly smaller on the keyboard and the
action is quite different, so it will pay to get some playing time in on it.

I plugged it into the hifi, and it all seems to sound quite Hammondy. It may
well be easier to run a cable from the hifi to the computer than messing
about with mics. An alternative is to record on minidisc, either DI'd or
using mics. Still to drag the guitar amp out and sort out some cabling.
It'll be interesting to see how its EQ affects the sound. Also want to try
it with the amp's distortion on to see if I can get Jon Lord and Caravan
sounds (for my own interest - probably not suited for jazzy standard stuff).

I'm afraid it only has patches, none of which are called that. I'll see
what I can do to approximate it, but the GM-1000's percussive tones don't

Indeed. Best sound of the day so far was through the headphones. The guitar
amp wasn't up to much, so that's out.
