Can anyone identify this 1960s (?) recording, a few phrases
of which were used in the British TV series Heartbeat?

You're welcome. I found it interesting to know what sort of show you
record after your comments about all the quality TV you get abroad. ;-)

The neighbour's children enjoy Heartbeat
(mainly for the music, their Dad likes the Wolseley cars:-)
They recorded a repeat, and asked me to ID some of
the the music. This was one tune I could not place.
Thanks for your help

Good excuse - but would children know *any* of the music?

Did you see University Challenge the other night? The music question
was TV theme music from the '60s, and the children got them all right.
Some things appear to stick.

You'd be surprised what kids know. Apart from the ditties on
children's TV, they hear what their parents play, and don't start
rejecting it on principle until the stroppy-teenage stage.

Wouldn't that be more likely grandparents now? If we're talking 60's
music? ;-)

Not necessarily. Do YOU only like the music that was being marketed
during your teenage years? Neither do lots of other people.

I grew up with my Dad's choice of music:- British Dance Bands of the 1930s.
Jack Paine, Henry Hall, Jack Jackson, Lew Stone etc. Having decided as a
teenager it wasn't my kind of music I now find I'm listening to them and
enjoying them again since I inherited his record collection .

This is why stations like Smoothe get a good listenership of course, I mean
Johhnny Mathis followed by the Noisetts should nt work, but it does.
