I've just been given a broken one of these - first problem is the
belt
is
cracked, rigid, like plastic. Never seen likes before.
I've written to the manufacturer in Germany (they still make them it
seems) - does anyone have a preferred supplier as an alternative?
Thanks, Rob
**Depends on where you are. Here in Australia, there are several
sources.
Prices range from around AUS$6.00. Dunno about other places. Seek out
a
trade supplier to repair organisations. They'll likely stock a wide
range
of
belts, one of which will be suitable.
UK. Aye, plenty of alternatives, but it's not clear which are worth a
go.
I've just bought one for £6 from a well rated ebay seller, see how that
goes.
Thanks anyway, Rob
**Ebay sellers of such things are, almost invariably, rip-offs. Much
better
to locate a suitable supplier to the trade.
Hence the OP, I'll just have to see.
The cheapest alternative I could get was ITRO £20 and I really had no
way of knowing quality. This ebay seller has 30000 odd positive feedback
selling largeley turntable bits. Thought it might be a chance worth
taking given the TT has thrown up a few other problems.
Works fine, measurement identical - whether it will continue to work fine
. . .
Ebay seller is dappletoft, arrived next day.
**20 Squid for a AUS$5.00 belt. I'm in the wrong business.
No, £6 plus post, about £8, on ebay - the alternatives from (so far as i
could tell) trade outlets were £20.
The manufacturer hasn't replied. They still make the 505-4, sells for
USD800.
