Don't know whether this is an entirely new topic as I've only been
lurking for a few weeks

Nice to hear from you but there are a lot of Davids here - you need
an 'identifier'!

Davids are generic, aren't they?

Call me Dave, eh? :-)

I had hoped to read some erudite words on the difficulties of getting
rid of such things as echoes in recordings. I did wonder if in fact it
was the sound of the bell reverberating to the voice. I do know that
certain sounds emanating from my radio speakers will cause
reverberation of some items in the living room.

I'm sure if that track's gettable someoneone here would be able to faff it
out in some way; I'd just move on, fit were me...

Narrow view? You object to my (highly consistent, it would appear)
expressed preference? :-)

Prompts this for a bit of fun - how narrow is this list of audiovisual kit
in regular use here, starting from the 'left':

Acer Revo computer
Acer L100 computer
Acer Revo computer
Homebuilt X-QPack computer
Samsung netbook

Listing your computers is meaningless, you didn't know about YT
and updating Adobe Flash player, so no doubt you know nothing
about updating other areas of your pc's and laptops. Burners both
DVD and BD both need frequent updating with latest firmware so
as to iron out bugs etc, but importantly to increase compatibility
with the increasing range of blank media, same with standalone
burners. Ever noted that some blank discs work fine with your
burners but others not, all thats needed is a firmware update,
you didn't know that did you?
You don't list the specification, I doubt there is anything impressive
or uptodate on any of your computers, but if they work for you
thats what counts.

Samsung BDP
Sony BDP

The mighty Sony is not so mighty these days, though they will never
vanish. But you seem to have identical BD players from the TSST.corp
production line just each badged differently... Why?
And I suspect it's an odd's on certainty you never went to the TSST
site, clicked the support link, downloaded the accumulative firmware
update for each model, burned said firmware to CD following the
support instructions to use the R/C to access hidden service menu
and update said firmware, did you?

Sanyo telly
Sony telly

No details of your TV's, though I have a painful feeling you have
your identical BD players connected via scart to a couple of CRT's..

Acoustic Solutions DAB tuner (playing right now)

Sigh, DAB on an Argos sourced Accoustic solutions.....

I do apoligise in advance Keef, I'm not out to drive you into therapy,
but just a few questions for when you're not feeling stressed...

Do you really think anyone will be impressed with that list of motley
models that you fail to identify?
Why haven't you listed your croissant racks?
Why are you known as "Kitty"?
(Anyone else who wants to leave messages on the YT site at least
identify who you post as in this group)

Now Keef, have a nice cup of tea and relax.

Sure, I'm still converting TV recordings I got a little keyboard time left.

Who TF cares either way?

Why are you known as "Kitty"?

I like to dress in women's clothes of an evening...

Good coming from an Anony Mouse like you, ain't it?

Now Keef, have a nice cup of tea and relax.

There you go again - pure magic! :-)

Mmmmm......

Acer Revo computer

Denon SS amplifier
Grundig USB PVR
Sanyo telly
Technics DD turntable
Homebrew Fidelio speakers
Homebrew Buschhorn Mk II speakers
Yamaha sub
Lenco turntable
Homebrew SET amp
WAD kit phono stage
WAD Kit88 PP amplifier
Technics DD turntable (again)
Homebrew Cyburg's Needles speakers
Acer L100 computer
Acoustic Solutions DAB tuner (playing right now)
Denon SS amp
Acer Revo computer
Homebuilt X-QPack computer
Assorted USB hard disks
Ruark speakers
Tannoy speakers
Tannoy centre speaker
Sony telly
Topfield PVR
Strange little PVR with no name (hangs from the scart socket)
Optoma PJ (again)
Western Digital TV media player
Sony BDP
Sony AV amplifier
Samsung netbook

Plus a pair of B&W speakers I've just noticed!!

As Fed Up Lurker (wot a sad name) has mentioned, there are no model
details - so if anyone wants details and maybe a pic of any of the above,
just let me know.

Computer updates seem to worry him also - they are ongoing, all the time,
automatic. Software updates - ongoing where it matters. Drives all working
perfectly well except the drive in the Acer L100 which has disappeared - all
covered by a Liteon flip-top USB DVD drive anyway.

Please feel free to ask any questions, but only about MY kit - surprisingly,
I can't speak for anyone else's here!!

Dashed odd that, ain't it? ;-)

WTF is that when it's at home?

Anyway, here's news: You don't earn smart and charming posts by forming an
'ad-hom' Attack Pack or carping like in the above post.

It's really not too hard, Arny: you got two choices - you either read my
posts (while you can) or you don't. What you don't have is the right to veto
them. And, believe it or not, I really do find it tough to post about
anything here on somebody else's behalf, so you will have to learn to live
my so-called 'me-centricty' or do the other thing.

My posting here doesn't stop anyone else posting whatever they like and, it
goes without saying, anyone is perfectly at liberty to ignore my posts if
they don't like them or even ****terise me. I couldn't care less either way.

Now, comms are still open, got an original thought we'd be interested to
hear - on topic, if you prefer?

No, just poor effects, applied with a sledge hammer. You need to look
to some other source and genre if you want anything like quality.

Thank you for that little run-down, I can see more clearly now....

I've explained about 'ego-centric' and if you can't grasp the impossibility
of me posting about and on behalf of others I can't help you - the wilfully
ignorant bit is the one that makes me smile.

Who TF are you (or anyone else here) to decide what knowledge I (or anybody
else here) will address/heed and take on board? There's a small few here
(3.5, actually) who deem this newsgroup a form of 'captive clinic' which
exists for the purpose of them airing their knowledge and for 'putting
people right' whether or not they want it or not. News for them....

(Have you no idea that this is the single biggest reason people leave the
group?)

FYI, I am not the recalcitrant teenager (by some 50 years) that refuses *to
be told* that one or two here seem to think and I am quite capable of
deciding with what I will bother my remaining brain cellls and what I will
not. I am the first (and almost only) one to ask when/if I need to know as
well as being the first to respond to any enquiry I can help with as my kind
of payback. What little pratting about with 'audio' I still do is only a
fraction of my hobbyist activities and my knowledge intake (via recorded TV
programmes) progresses on a daily basis.

(Struggling to see how I could improve my performance as a human being, let
alone as an active poster here....??)

Comms still open (and still waiting for an original thought) but not for
much longer if all you are going to post is your never-ending condemnation
of me and my posts..??

Like, who TF needs it?

Actually Arny, I think we are fast approaching the 'say the word' stage
again....

??

;-)
