Default USB - S/PDIF convertor - Recommendations

hiFace make a USB to S/PDIF which sells for about £100.

Can anyone recommend an alternative product offering better quality for a
similar price, or a similar quality at a lower price ?

What's wrong with the HiFace unit?

David.

Nothing, I was just wondering if there were any alternatives that I should
consider.

It all depends.

What sample rates and word sizes do you want to handle?

If 16/44 or 16/48 is all you want, then commodity units selling for $30-50
will do the job.

What format SP/DIF?

If optical will suffice, then even the Behringer UCA 202 @ $30 will do the
job.

Any possible sound quality issues will be up to the DAC that you plug this
into.
