looks like a good choice. It has 4 mic preamps each with its own dedidicated
channel. Two of the mic inputs can also handle line-level inputs. The
remaining 4 inputs are line level only. Possible future expansion could
come via up to 4 additional mic preamps.

I'm thinking if anyone is any good (garage standards) then it usually isn't
long before another guitar turns up - and maybe a washboard and a tea-chest
bass!

and I ain't happy with it. The clart melts into the mix but the (alto) sax
is too far forward (and too dry). I think we can probably cure that by
getting Swimbo to take a step backward with the alto but it's not very
satisfactory - I haven't figured out how to adjust the gain with the USB mic
in SoundForge.

(Iain on the tenor is quite superb, isn't he? ;-)
