Yes, notice the OP claimed the mid-range units needing replaced was an
unlikely (I would have thought) 16 Ohm!

You think wrong.

That is impossible. And if such a dealer were to make such a claim
that they could supply a "safe bet" based on a description then that
is a dealer who should be revealed for ridicule. Name him?

No way. Not in my interests to get involved. All I would say is that the
same supplier was happy to recommend alternative 'fullrange drivers'
for a horn cabinet I had built *without having heard any of them* by
his own admission.

A full range driver doesn't have to interface with a crossover.

Oh, well done! Somebody give him a banana....

'I should think they would be alright' was the
phrase - I thought so too and he was right, they were OK!

So *you* say.

And so have plenty of others, ma cherie.

(Listening to them right now - in the middle of a Poirot two-parter..!! :-)

It's just sunk in, has it?

Europeans always get it wrong. You have too much in
the signal path, gramophones, interconnects, amplifiers,
cables etc. All one needs is a power cord and connect
speakers direct to the wall outlet:

Possibly, but it's also very *real world*. I would like the OP to try my
suggestion and report back here, but it won't happen - heck, I'd even
buy the drivers off him if they didn't work out!

What is the implication here?

I tried one with a spare driver I had knocking about, had to cut the
metal surround to fit, but it sounded fine, so I am probably going to
order a new pair.
