He has a web site: http://www.jonstrong.com/ And is playing in Leeds on Sunday 7 December 2003: http://www.ents24.com/web/event/6681...rong_Band.html Nice to know he is still going, I remember being told he had signed to Linn, but nothing after that. I remember it was a great gig, both times he played the pub. Huge PA (small pub) but rearly good quality sound. -- Nick |

Kealer - My Worst Enemy That's out of the 29 currently in around my CDP and computer desk. Tidy up time. I've just ordered the new Sarah Mclachlan off Amazon, so glad to hear it's one of your favourites. BTW, the first 'Equation' CD (the unreleased line-up with Cara Dillon as well as Kathryn) is now out. Very good. (I think 'The lucky Few' is the poorest of the three, but that might be because of the atrocious recording quality that has been commented on many times in other places.) -- Chris Morriss |

Sounded a bit disappointing on the first few listens, say compared to 'Fumbling Towards Ecstasy' but after about half a dozen or so more spins I started to get into it a lot more. IMO she should try a different producer next time (let hope that's not another 4 year wait) the Pierre Marchand association is wearing a bit thin. Maybe Daniel Lanois producing and contributing could add some new magic. BTW, the first 'Equation' CD (the unreleased line-up with Cara Dillon as well as Kathryn) is now out. Very good. The new one 'First Name Terms' also features Cara on vocals and the rest of the Lakeman bros. Haven't heard that one yet. If you like Cara Dillion then her own two solo albums are excellent. Of course I would say that, considering :) ... both these have the Lakeman's connection as well. Yes, I've got those. The second one is especially good. (Can't get occasional Kate Bush comparisons out of my mind! Strange for a Northern Irish folkie) (I think 'The lucky Few' is the poorest of the three, but that might be because of the atrocious recording quality that has been commented on many times in other places.) Very true, The recording is totally dull and lifeless, which is a pity as the musical content IMO is very good, albeit a bit Fleetwood Mac in parts. If you like this sort of stuff (female vocals) have you tried the Poozies? Not keen on them, nor on Kate Rusby's work really. Do you know the Welsh band 'Fernhill'? Very Breton influenced but very competent and innovative. I only have 'Whilia' but have ordered their other three CDs from Amazon. -- Chris Morriss |
