What causes this effect.

I've not tried that utility, but the bbc downloader is completely
inaccessible to the blind.

Amplifier issues

Some whooshing sounds can be just corrosion on the valve pins or sockets,

The audio recording software tells me not to use the microsoft sound mapper
so I've use the realtech one instead, but its still the same.
