Default Yet another radio code question

Hi,
I have just bought a 2nd hand Corsa from a garage and it has the standard
Blaupunkt Car 300 Radio/tape player. It is working fine, but I don't have
the code for it should anything go wrong. Is there any way that I can get
the code from it or change it to something of my choice without having to
put in the current code first? The garage has no idea of the current code.
Thanks
Andy

Don't worry about it until you get a flat battery!

You can get a code easily but it means removing the stereo (and losing the
code!) first. It costs £10 - £15 from Vauxhall.

You might contact the previous owner and the original supplying Vauxhall
dealer as well. You never know, they might have it.

At the risk of disagreeing with part of Alan's reply, I suggest not waiting.
Surely if you bought from a garage, they should (a) contact the previous
owner, (b) have experience of getting the radio re-coded, (c) pick up the
tab for having it re-coded. You never know when you might have to
disconnect battery - or you might be tempted not to disconnect when doing
work on the car.

Yes, you are right although it really depends on what type of garage it is.
We would automatically find the code before you buy but a lot of smaller
secondhand sites won't be interested in helping.
