Indeed - I had the same problem once, and fitting a ground loop isolator
into the RCA leads sorted it out.

Take a look at
http://www.maplin.co.uk/, item VW43W. That should sort it
out. I believe Halfords sell one too.

sometimes a ground loop isolator will take some of the edge out of the
sound quality too though.

Grounding the case of the Amp to the car body properly can help to,
without losing any sound qulaity when grounded.
