Default CD & MP3 Headunit

I'm thinking of buying one of these:

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/produ...oductID=149291

Does anyone have any experience with them?

It says it has some sort of universal connector.

The car it going int is an 11 year old Rover 416 which has the original
'Rover' head unit in. How much hassel/what will be involved to swap them
around. WIll it be just a case of unplugin the old and pluggin in the new or
will I have to work out what each wire is doing and wire up my own plug?

Has anyoen tried on of these and is it any good?

Cheers!

Cheaper if you buy through

http://www.scan.co.uk/todayonly

or click

to go straight to basket.

Not specifically, although I don't have a great opinion of the low-end
blaupunkt stuff.

If I were you I'd get the kenwood from caraudiodirect (or incarexpress)
instead.

Alternatively pay a bit more and get an alpine - their MP3 handling is
supposed to be first-rate.

You may need to get an ISO - rover connector, or it may be that the 416
already comes with an ISO style connector (anyone know this?).

Popped into Halfords to check prices and according to their chart it is just
an ISO style connector.

Just had a quick look at the head unti and just wondering what the trick to
getting them out? The last one I took out needed a key like tool in either
side but this standard Rover one.... can;t see any slots or anything.

I've had 2 Rover 400's in the past (G and R reg) I used to remove the radios
by putting some knitting needles in the four holes and yanking it out. Can't
remember if there was anything covering them.

If you haven't got it already... go for the Sony CDX-S2200 instead. I
have one of those in my Fiesta, with an offboard amp running the front
speakers (rears running from head unit's amp). £90 from MCS Direct.

Alternatively if you want something really cool... get any Sony head
unit with Unilink (the S2200 sadly isn't) and plug in a CDX-757. 10
discs full of MP3s. Got one of these in the A4 running through an
MDX-CA580 head unit.
