I notice you dont have the balls to put the URL here...

No, but then I don't need to include the URL in my sig either as it gets
enough visitors already.

(You really should invest in a spell checker y'know...! What does the word
"dont" mean? I think you might mean "don't"?)

Are you aware of the meaning of 'gutless blowhard'?

Agreed, but for some strange reason I'm not sure that I would too keen to
use my full
name here (Keith Stewart Garratt) too often........!!!

Och, laddie, that's a fine middle name, just like my own! My real
first name is Angus...................

WRONG! I will be most happy to revise my views if any *evidence*
emerges which proves that some cable materials and/or construction
actually does make an audible difference. After all, I too used to be
a 'true believer' (hence some of my more 'exotic' cables), before I
proved to myself that they really didn't make *any* audible
difference.

And how do I know that? It's only your opinion that you would be willing to
accept any evidence that cables can sound different.

No, it's not my opinion, since I already changed my mind about cables
when presented with enough evidence that they do *not* sound
different.

How can I trust that? I don't even know you, never mind can trust you.- and
you've got a grand to lose - I've only got my opinion to lose.

You are clearly a gutless egomaniac with too much money!

So, why should I waste my time trying to convince somebody who is already
convinced of the opposite view?

Provide *evidence* by passing the challenge.

There is no point carrying on this debate,
as in my opinion it isn't workable.

My opinion is that you're a gutless blowhard who's terrified that his
precious cables will be proved no better than zipcord.

Yup, I'd be happy to admit that I'm a deaf old git! :-)

And I'm a half-deaf middle-aged git. :-)

Anyway, his metre of strimmer cord was only 50 quid - he should have gone to
Russ Andrews and checked out their "non-technical" graph comparing Toslink
with nitrogen-shrouded hypra-pure copper co-ax cables. He'd have found that
Toslink is the lowest of the low - another tenner would have got him
something "twice as good". Of course, if he's so loaded that he can turn
down an easy grand, he coulda had something much better for only 700
notes...

The bull**** on that web site is unbelievable - and to think that I once
bought a turntable off them (Rega 3, replacing a Rotel RP1500). I'm just
glad I now spend my pennies in the art shop across the street.

How would a spell checker (two words?) correct my grammar ?

The claim has been made right here. If he welches on the deal, Im sure
you could come right back here and expose the fact.

With all the evidence you'd have against him by then, it should be an
open and shut case.

Why do I get the impression we wont be seeing this chain of events?

You do realise the bandwidth of TOSlink is FAR *FAR* below the
capability of the fibre it uses? heck, you could probably get it to work
with no fibre at all if you put the devices back-to-back. Are you going
to suggest that air has *remotely* similar optical properties to 3
metres of glass?

Ian

Are we going to get trapped in the scientific numbers game that because a
particular number is too high or too low, then it must be "right" or
"wrong".

Fact is: You've (hopefully) used your ears and brain and decided that all
TosLink cables sound the same. I did the same, maybe with other products,
and came up with a different result.

Leave it at that and be grateful !!

Don't worry about it, Molton thinks that TOSlinks are made of glass -
they're not.
