I found that different optical cbales sound different.
I compared a 5 quid cheapo cable between CD player and amp
with a computer grade 50/125 micron multimode fibre.
There was complete silence from the latter!

Next test: some translucent strimmer cable from B&Q. :-)

That might actually work :-)

That's because you are probably already smitten with the idea that
most cables sound the same.
While I think that they can make a system sound different.

Neither of us might be willing to actually "give in" our views even
if it was demonstrated that either of us was wrong.

As I understand it, Stewart has a standing offer, whereby he'll give a grand
to anyone that can identify high-end cables from run-of-the-mill decent
stuff in a blind test. All you have to do is turn up and state "good 'un" or
"cheap 'un" a number of times, correctly, and you walk out a grand richer.

If I lived near him, I'd give it a go just for the hell of it. Even if I
couldn't tell the difference, I'd get a listen to his system and find out if
he makes decent coffee...

Coffee? Call yourself a Scot? :-)

WRONG! I will be most happy to revise my views if any *evidence*

proved to myself that they really didn't make *any* audible
difference.

And how do I know that? It's only your opinion that you would be willing to
accept any evidence that cables can sound different.

How can I trust that? I don't even know you, never mind can trust you.- and
you've got a grand to lose - I've only got my opinion to lose.

So, why should I waste my time trying to convince somebody who is already
convinced of the opposite view? There is no point carrying on this debate,
as in my opinion it isn't workable.
