Default Audio down UTP

If I wanted to have (Line Level) audio sent down a UTP cable, would I need
baluns each end like you do with composite video (CCTV)?
If so, where do I get some! (CCTV ones are 75ohms)

I assume I would need a pair for left, and a pair for right too?

Ta!

No, just equipment with balanced outputs and inputs - unless you are
unusually fond of 50Hz and its harmonics.

What's wrong with ordinary screened cable?

No - there is no need for baluns for audio frequency connectors. UTP can
provide a very cost-effective interconnects, but they are very system
dependent - in some installations they may pick up too much hummmm

'Baluns' are IME a term used for RF transformers so no. You could use audio
balancing transformers but note that (a) audio transformers are very
expensive for decent quality (b) all transformers degrade the signal slightly
at least anyway.

Not may places stock audio transformers these days since there's little
demand. Sowter and Oxford Electronic Products come to mind as manufacturers.

If you were going to use them - yes.

Suggest you simply use STP instead ! ( screened instead of unscreened )

Pro audio transformers tend to be made for the sort of levels and headroom
you need for that - say about +30 dB. No need for domestic line level.

I've found the OEP range sold by the likes of Rapid fine for domestic line
level in a non critical application like feeding things round the house.
They're roughly a tenner each and come in various specs.
