Question - how do you killfile posters?
Can somebody with the right technical knowledge please tell me how to set my ng
settings so I don't see posts from specific named posters? I'm on AOL. I can supply any other techncal information needed to answer this question. Many thanks for all assistance. Question - how do you killfile posters?
Further to the above post - I have found a section which includes
'Preferences'. there's an "Author is" button and "domain is" button. Do I enter the email address given by the poster under "Author is" or what exactly? As you can see I haven't done this on newsgroups before. Thanks for any assistance, Andy === Andy Evans === Visit our Website:- http://www.artsandmedia.com Audio, music and health pages and interesting links. |

Since you like old technology, an Acorn computer running RISC OS is ideal for this sort of use. And Pluto, that is my news/mail programme is simplicity itself to use for this sort of thing. It has crosses alongside both subject and author - click on either or both and they're killed. Gives you the option of how long for too. Incidentally, I read quite a few groups, on various subjects and not just UK ones. And have only found it necessary to killfile one person. On this group. Sad. -- *Real women don't have hot flashes, they have power surges. Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

Question - how do you killfile posters?
I've entered the names I want to killfile under 'author' but it's not working
yet - does anybody specifically know AOL for this? Andy === Andy Evans === Visit our Website:- http://www.artsandmedia.com Audio, music and health pages and interesting links. |

Question - how do you killfile posters?
I just spoke to AOL help - seems like AOL only filters IN posters, not out.
Hopeless. Any ideas for a better newsgroup browser? - Dave Plowman was talking about something - if he could explain how to set it up? Andy === Andy Evans === Visit our Website:- http://www.artsandmedia.com Audio, music and health pages and interesting links. |

Andy, go to http://www.forteinc.com/main/homepage.php and download yourself a copy of Free Agent. That has all the filters and killfiles you could wish for. It also displays threads coherently, which the AOL reader doesn't Then find yourself another news provider. When my ISP is giving bad service I use news.individual.net as I suspect do many here. It carries no binaries. As for killfiles, I almost don't use them. And when I do I don't leave the person in for very long. You can't prevent their posts getting through as quotes in other posts anyway, so it really isn't worth the bother. d Pearce Consulting http://www.pearce.uk.com |

I'd *guess* you need the email address they post under. Is there a reason you use AOL? Your posts stand out on here as being rather difficult to read in context due to the lack of conventional format. -- *He who laughs last, thinks slowest.
