Nigel, forget all this 'Watts' rubbish with speakers
Agreed. My Denon UDM-30 is 'only' rated at 20w, and rarely goes above 1/2
volume. It's much louder than some '200w' systems I've heard.
For the wire, just buy a few meters of 79 stand wire and ignore the brands.
It should cost no more than 80p/meter. If the wires are moulded to the
speakers you can get resonable results from just twisting the old wires
around some extra stuff and wraping it in duct tape. But if you want a
strong joint that won't degrade with time you'll have to solder them
together.
You can use a little plastic signal block. Ask at maplins and they'll
point you in the right direction. Different resistance speakers won't
damage the amp or speakers, it just might not sound as loud as it could.
