They seem to give you pleasure for a few minutes before you move on to
your latest fad...
First off, I snipped some crap in the interests of tidyness and clarity - I
trust this hasn't discommoded you too much?
I try 20,000 SS amps and didn't even know I was looking for valves 'til
I got a valve amp, then I try a few different types and find I prefer
triodes, which leads me to try out firewood horns (high
sensitivity/fullrange drivers/no crossovers) and I'm now on my 6th pair
and am trying out different drivers...
How faddish is that?
Very, considering the time scale.
???
Time scale? You got a stopwatch on me or summat? - I've got a time scale I
should stick to?
And each one appears to be perfection to
your ears just after you've got it. So I'm not quite clear why you
continue to search for 'better'.
Perfection? You ever seen me use that word? Keep it real, Plowie....
I search for 'better' because it's my hobby - work this out:
uk = here, where I live and where my antecedents have lived for about a
thousand years...
rec = recreational - see 'hobby' above (and below)....
audio = not embroidery, not cooking, not motorcycles, not movies, not
digital cameras &c....
Get the idea?
If I could have got *best* first time out I'm not sure it would have done me
any good. Larf if you like, but I get a lot of enjoyment from my funny
little voyage of discovery - the worst of my kit makes at least an OK sound,
the new stuff just keeps getting better and better.....
Perfection? No, not even now.....
(Wot a stupid thing to say that was...)
I think you just wanna poke me in the eye, Plowie....
No need for me to do that - you do it nicely to yourself. You obviously
are searching for something which sure as eggs are eggs isn't natural
sound reproduction.
'Natural sound reproduction' WTF is that?
Is it anything to do with playing *recorded/broadcast music* in a way which
is thrilling, exciting, emotional, satisfying &c. &c.?
I don't give a phiddler's phuck about your notions of 'natural sound' - I
want a sound that makes *me* want to play every damn record I've got. I want
to hear *all* the detail, I want a vast soundstage where I can *pinpoint*
instruments and voices and if I get an idea to 'push the envelope' and try
summat else, I'll do it if I can afford to and fekkin' build what I can't
afford to buy...
I'll also do it at a rate which pleases/suits me....
My 'Infidelio' cabinets are not yet finished:
http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/infi...infidelios.htm
.....and only went *online* about 4:40 pm this afternoon (and which are
*STUNNING*, even as I type) and I'm already pondering the next pair which,
I'm sure you will be pleased to know, won't be for a good while yet.....
(Do you see? - It's *hobby* ****, it never ends.... :-)
Jeez, I'm champing at the bit now!! What's the big secret - what did you
move on to??
(Could be a new fad to try..... :-)
As I say no point. My views (and pretty well the rest of the world ;-))
are so much apart from yours.
The day I start worrying about the opinions of the 'rest of the world' is
the day I jump in the hole and you can shovel the dirt on top of me....
(Do yourself a favour Plowie - start working on the *recreational* bit here
and forget about all this 'when I were a lad in recording studio' pro
horse****....)
