Don't you find the beard a bit of a passion killer though? It only takes one wellie. And he isn't kissing that end. Yeurkkk!!!. Can we finish this sub-thread now please. -- Bill Coombes |

More please....? I think that words can hurt and harm people, and that there are some damaged and easily-harmed people around. Such people probably shouldn't enter a boxing ring then :-) Or would you like censorship? Given that Daniele posted this: "Yes, there are occasional - *issues*. Oddly, it has some of the same distinctive features as this one: some genuine mental health issues, oddball non-UK-based contributors with bees in their bonnets, harmless monomaniacs, and - well, you get the picture." and then this: "I think that words can hurt and harm people," I'm just feeling that we might have been trolled. Check the thread. The quoting's just got muddled up. I think Daniele is the victim of home decor and obsolete equipment. But hasn't, so far, been abusive. |

First there is the choice of whether or not to engage in the debate (if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen). That would indeed be the sensible thing. These things are rarely if ever one-way deals. Other than a certain pathological Australian, I don't think anyone who posts here would simply be unpleasant to anyone who didn't show a propensity to give as good as he got. Even the Aussie is so patently insane that his words are unlikely to upset anybody. By harm, I didn't mean being upset. And it's insane, or at least unwell, people whose well-being is an issue I think. Then there is the choice of whether to participate in Usenet at all. Its nature must be clear to anyone who uses it for any length of time. Nobody as fragile as those you are talking about is going to hang around here. If by 'here' you mean Internet discussions in general, I think the evidence shows otherwise. And of course it is good for you to get beaten up (in text, not with sticks). It helps you to thicken your skin, which is never a bad thing. I think that's not the case at all. Daniele |

Having said that I'm expecting a big apology from Arny cos he upset me by accusing me of having his goat. Wasn't there one forum that COULD ban Arny, and did? I know he wriggles hard when it's mentioned. Banning Arny (or anyone else) is easy! I even found out how to do it in Thunderbox now - it's only a 2 click deal! |

I had him binned on the old machine simply to help keep the peace in here - I had a number of people whining at me about 'OT', 'blogging', 'winning debates' and **** know what else, so I binned them all. Didn't you notice the peace and quiet? :-) Anyway, I gave him the 'peaceful option' of being binned again in the new setup and he carefully avoided the issue, so he's on probation! (So far, only one **** is binned in this new software, by way of checking it out....) |
