'Hifi hobbyists' may well be 'technical', they may also not be - there is
no requirement here AFAIA...??

"HiFi" is technical, so how can a HiFi hobbyist *not* be technical?

(Big mistake to think this ng is some sort of 24/7 freebie Helpline
Bulletin Board for fake 'friends with broken hifi'... ;-)

Though that is clearly one of the things that the charter specifically says
this ng is for ;-)

David.

I suppose if you wanted a definition of "audio enthusiast" versus
"hi-fi enthusiast" it might hinge on technical knowledge?

Yes. I should have said the group isn't *only* some sort of Helpline.
Questions from newbies is/should be the natural feed for new recruits to the
group; sadly, it doesn't seem to work out quite like that....

I'm one who objects to those who *only* want to talk about music here.
Plenty of suitable groups for that. And AV. And motorcycles. Etc.

It's different when these things come up as part of something that started
off on topic through normal thread drift, though.

No moderators here, Kitty. If there were, most of your posts wouldn't
appear. Do you know what a moderated group is?

And yet you won't answer my point about Churches. Not surprising you being

Really? care to quote some posts that suggest that attitude?

Perhaps he means any mention of digital. That always gets Keith G foaming
at the mouth.

The mere mention of music is frowned upon by some in this ng.

One poster objected to discussion of "pure" music (ie, unrelated to it's
reproduction via audio equipment). Such discussion is clearly off-topic
(not that I mind OT discussion myself, but if Keith is going to start
quoting the charter.....)

It would appear that only the technical are now welcome in this ng and

And in what way are "HiFi hobbyists" not technical?

Be nice to have that one explained.

Also why anyone would want to 'lurk' on a group which clearly doesn't give
them what they want, when there are so many others.

David.

Says the one calling me Kitty earlier this evening....

Is it blatant hypocrisy or can't he simply see it?
