Doh, look at the header, the original post was done using windows mail.
Doh, Look at wiki.
"Windows Mail is an e-mail and newsgroup client included in Windows

As the thread was originated by Keith because he was having
difficulties posting to the group and, as you so kindly point out; was
posted with Windows Mail; I think we can safely assume that he is using
it as a newsgroup client.
I like a good argument, this isn't one.
So stay out of my threads in future then.
You haven't started any threads here.
Why don't you post an original thought about audio?

The purpose of my post wasn't to complain about
newsreaders (or whatever) but, seeing as I already had
the image on my webpage for other purposes, to post a
'heads up' showing these dinky little computers which,
IME, make superb little music and cinema centres. They
are so small they can be clipped on the back of the
monitor, as in this second, 'projected' screenshot:

Personally, for navigating music, picture and video files
I can't be doing with anything less than a full PC
display, however small and a proper keyboard and mouse -
which you will notice on the Revo are both *wireless*.
There are other makes and models like:
Acer Aspire Revo R3700 Desktop
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/236579
Basically netbooks in micro-desktop drag with no screen. They definately
have a place as modern desktops are immensely overpowered for what most of
us do most of the time.

Yep, but the Revo R3610 (?) comes with wireless keyboard and mouse. If you
are squeezing one in (see link below) you don't need another screen, you
need a VGA switch (see pic).

And *oversized* - see my Revo No 2 (video processing and sound recording
station) next to my 'Blu-ray machine' he

Note that it isn't much bigger than the 2TB hard drive hiding behind it!

Aye, makes my Mac Mini look overpriced if you don't need much more than
a media server.
I suspect I know the answer to this, but what do you do for a remote?

Wireless mice and keyboards work with anything that has a USB port. The
current wireless mouse/keyboard USB interface is smaller than a typical
flash drive. Way smaller.
It seems to me that having a micro-desktop and a desktop sharing a screen
misses a lot of the advantage of the micro-desktop which is the small
footprint.
It is no big secret that most modern desktops are big empty boxes. I've been
building desktops with full power and complement of drives (even RAID
arrays!) in this case for several years:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-092-_-Product
It sits under a LCD monitor and the feet of the monitor sit near its
corners. IOW, negligable additional footprint as compared to anything
smaller.
This case works with 100% standard system boards, add-on boards, CPUs, heat
sinks and drives. OK, my RAID machines have no floppy drive. ;-)
Floppy drives, what are those? ;-)

I don't use one myself other than when I'm using the Blu-ray player: I
prefer the mouse and clicking along the progress bar in WMP for video
recordings and the BBC and ITV online players. Tbh, I never use the 'cinema'
Revo for playing music:
http://www.moirac.adsl24.co.uk/showntell/RevoPJshot.JPG
But they are easy enough online to find if you Google 'remote control for
pc':
Here's a good page where you will see most of them are USB:

A small footprint is a bonus but was not a requirement for me. The Revo is
one of three computers that I switch between (according to what I am doing)
by snapping the VGA switch:
http://www.moirac.adsl24.co.uk/showntell/3Computers.JPG
The idea was to transfer the workload and contents of the Acer L100 (left of
monitor, top of audio stack) to the Revo and retire the L100 but it has been
behaving so well lately I have not done this. It is eay to find people
online whining that the L100s overheat but mine is on all day and has never
had any such problem. I suspect they have had them in the upright position,
standing them on the air intake end!
OTOH, it is easy to lock it up if you (me) overload it with too many tasks -
hence the mutiple computers. Some of my jobs take over an hour to complete -
no good having the machine crash 95% of the way in!
It is no big secret that most modern desktops are big empty boxes. I've
been building desktops with full power and complement of drives (even RAID

I've built a number myself (including the black X-Qpack on the right in the
pic) but the idea of trapping large amounts of data in large boxes no longer
appeals to me. Much better to have the mobility and relative safety of a
number of USB hard drives.
With some file sizes approaching 50 Gig it's always easy to fill up any size
hard disk in a very short time!

Yes, I thought you'd forsake. I've actually got one of those add on ones
for a project PC I was building, but could never get it to work
reliably. The Mac one is typically sparse:

And I use an iPhone or iPad for most things using a remote app:

All go :-)
