A good 'record' shop?

And cheer yourself up by realising that no-one is forcing you to even read what I post. ;- Most time I don't, my friend. Or at least, by the 57th paragraph I've lost the will to live. I believe I (and others) have provided you with positive input. You are very unlikely to find a dealer who is prepared to entered into long winded gobbledegook on a few jazz purchases. Do your own research on the genre, using on-line data bases, on-line music forums and the on-line specialist and mainstream retail outlets. Why you are having so much difficulty in comprehending all this is beyond me. |

I'm sure Mr. Le Surf will be pleased with Plowman's positive and informative input to the subject at hand. I wouldn't dream of speaking for anyone else here. But do know that Jim's surname is Lesurf. But not, of course what yours is. Why are you so terrified of using your real name? What have you to hide? Must be something pretty terrible. -- *The sooner you fall behind, the more time you'll have to catch up * Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

I've been taking an interest in flac recently. :-) Your monthly articles in HFN & RR are always a delight to read. Hope you find your dealer..... I've already contacted one. But I was hoping people might know of alternatives. There is one other I have in mind to contact as well. But I was wondering if anyone knew of ones they would recommend. Alas, apparently not. Hope you find your dealer..... -- Froggy OK Arny, if you insist on using a non de plume, well that's OK with me. I wouldn't describe Jim as a "delight to read", he is too safe. If only in print he would let loose and rock the boat now and again. He has hinted at so much online that he would love to vent about, admittedly the mag he writes for is the only UK one worth reading, his editor is a must read as is Bazza Fox, but the rest can be a bit mundane, and they do get things wrong sometimes. As for the other UK mags on the subject, they are having a bloody laugh. back in the late seventies Jim was a true headbanger and a gifted musician, it was Jim who played the lead riff on "The boys are back in town", "Jessica", "Anarchy in the UK" and many others. But now he is into Nat King Cole, Shirley Bassey and Tony Christie. And Jim has his thumb in too many pies, sine waves, USB jitter, open source operating systems that never quite deliver, astrology, over taxed hooch, you name it Jim is into it. Jim and I are captains of competing Pub quiz teams. a couple of years back at time of 40th anniversary of the first moon walk, it was a simple tie breaker between our teams and the moon walk was the subject of the key question - who was the first man to step foot on the moon? But Jim got his subjects mixed up and answered: "Louie Armstrong". I've tried to steer Jim along an enlightened path that would make for an excellent series of articles in HFC+RR, - DIY NOS'ing. But he is under the thumb on the subject. If the world was to be detailed how easy it was to do 30 minutes of cost free tweaking to the thousands and thousands of 80's and 90's cd players that can be had for peanuts on Ebay, Gumtree, Cash Converters etc, well nobody would buy the new hardware and new formats. Publishers don't want that to happen. So Arny, how are you getting on with your amateur recordings, still the local church choir, are they in tune yet? |

Those with an interest in the history of UK audio may be able to spot why. :-) Beyond that, I'll leave you to your conspiracy theories about why people may not always do whatever you tell them to do. BTW you may find the *next* issue of HFN worth reading given your hobby-horses...
