Busted lock? :-)
No, the foot up agin the door sorts that one out. It's just got great
acoustics.
In the car?
Radio or CD (though the acoustic of the average car makes the source
medium pretty immaterial)
Ditto but I think it can sound very good. (Car radio/CD isn't anything
special, though....)
I agree in my current motor it's a lot better than I've had before - but
it's still not conducive to hi-fi.
On a train/bus/plane?
iPOD
OK. Nice quiet headphones I trust?
Eh? I thought the rest of the carriage wanted to hear the Foo Fighters.
In the shed/garage/workshop?
Nothing
Whaaat? No Roberts radio?? (Bugger, I'd slash a wrist...!!)
I can be in and out of anything resembling a workshop before the intro's
over.

So nothing to do with the quality of the sound then?
Of course not. If they are proper 45s, they are made out of the cheapest
re-cycled vinyl and mastered by the tea boy.

Depends on the particular disc. Some have been mastered by top flight
mastering engineers and pressed on premium virgin vinyl.

I was referring to 'proper' 45s. ;-) Modern ones will just be another
teenage fashion.

And that's from the man who has never mastered a disc in his life.
So he should know:-)

So you considered pop single 45s in their heyday generally to be of the
highest quality, Iain?
And you are/were actually employed as a mastering engineer?
