Dave. Perhaps you don't have access to the closed groups were
these people, many of whom are your former BBC colleagues are
to be found. This matter is discussed not infrequently.
If they don't bother to correspond with you by a.mail either,
you are probably are not aware of what is really going on, and
thus see no indication of it.

I have access to groups you don't have Iain, so what's your point?

They are certainly not waiting for better behaviour, as
most agree that Usenet will probably not improve, while closed
groups (unmoderated but civilised) go from strength to strength.

Fine. So why make such a big deal of it on these groups?

Have you never stopped to think why audio designers and
technical writers give Usenet groups like this one such a wide
berth, and have you not noticed the large number of good people
that have disappeared from UKRA in the time you have been
following it. These people are still around, but elsewhe-)
Surely this is a loss to a group like this one, the core
subscribers of which can be counted on the fingers of one hand.

Mainly because of the amount of rubbish spouted, I'd guess. But plenty
other newsgroups go from strength to strength.

I correspond regularly with an ex BBC chap who has had
a number of papers published in the JAES and has written
articles in both Studio Sound and the hi-fi press. He
told me that he would prefer cranial surgery to discussion
with Pinkie's Boys (whom I took to be Stewart, yourself
and Arny)

Writing articles for the Hi-Fi press is meant to impress? You're a strange
fellow, Iain.

Your TV sound forum would bore me to tears:-((

I have access to the three closed groups that are important to
my profession and of interest to me, given the limited time I have
available. Many of the people whose knowledge, opinions and
experience I value are there too, so I am more than happy. I
keep contact by e.-mail with the others.

My point is that many of the better people,. particularly those
who have published papers (JAES, ISCE, SRF, etc etc etc)
tend to avoid the spit and sawdust of groups like this one, in
which you seem to be so at home. Arny and Pinkie did an
excellent job of ethnic cleansing. I am told you are intent on
keeping up the good work.

Can't you see what's happening (Not paid to see nuffin guv, thats
for the camera crew - I'm just a TV sound recordist)
It doesn't matter a silver sixpence to me if you drive everyone away
from Usenet, Dave. These people will turn up somewhere else.
They always do.

You carefully avoided mention of the JAES and Studio Sound.
Don't you read them? Perhaps there is not too much there for
a fish-pole man:-)) To each his own!

Cheers
Iain

Iain, I'll see your AES member with a couple of JAES papers, and raise you
with three AES felllows, all of whom have had a number of papers published
in the JAES.

A couple of weeks ago, I gave a paper about microphones, recording and SR at
my hi-fi club's most recent meeting. Two AES Fellows (Clark and Lip****z)
were present. To bad my other good friend who is an AES Fellow, Earl Geddes
decided not to show. A good time was had by all. BTW, Geddes, Clark and
Lip****z have all had "a number of papers" published in the JAES.

That's because they don't want to be bothered with the likes of you, Iain.

Arny and Pinkie did an excellent job of ethnic cleansing.

Pinkerton can speak for himself, but you don't want to get into a
name-dropping duel with me, Iain.

I am told you are intent on keeping up the good work.

Trust me Iain, the AES Fellows I hang with laugh their butts off at the
likes of you. Tubes, indeed.

I hope you did not play them any of your recordings Arny,
I can imagine the scramble for the Exit :-))

"To bad" ??? Come on, Arnold, get a grip. This is an English language

I correspond on a daily basis with such people .- several from the BBC,
the AES (UK), EBU and others from major record companies in the UK

Arny and Pinkie did an excellent job of ethnic cleansing.

At least Pinkie was fluent in his native tongue, Arny.
You must go down in history as the most dyslectic, foul-mouthed
"Christian" of all time:-) I am sure your pastor is proud of you.
I try to refrain from replying to your posts, as they usually result
in a number of messages to my personal mailbox from people wanting
to tell me the "truth about Kruborg" There is no subject in which I
am less interested.

Trust me Iain, the AES Fellows I hang with laugh their butts off at the

Arny, your recordings speak for themselves.
Tube audio is a practical hobby for me. No more, no less.
It is something at which, over the years I have gained considerable skill.
I note from you posts on RAT that you have built nothing.

There is nothing more to say.

So you'd be bored to tears by something concerning my work, but think I
should be interested in yours?

Given the little spat you've had with our foul mouthed Oz cousin, you
seem to be rather concerned with some ancient glass enclosed technology.
So just as well you stick to discussing it with your anorak pals.

For one who claims to hate the mud slinging of news groups you seem to do
a remarkable amount of it yourself.

If you do not appreciate or know anything about music, then it
might not be too interesting for you, but you would probably be
more than happy to exchange pay.slips:.-)))

Oh you mean Phil? If you read between the asterisks in his posts, you
will find that, despite is lack of social skills, he is actually a pretty
clever
bloke, and, as Patrick Turner points out, is rarely wrong. He insults
everyone, including the leading lights here, Jim and Don. If you haven't
been insulted by Phil, that means you haven't posted anything of interest.

I have asked Arny several times what this "truth about Kruborg" thing is
all about. He seems reluctant to say. As his pal, Dave, you probably
know.
