God! What a lot of euphemisms and circumlocutions! If you mean "I

Because it's not really my style, but I guess it could come to that -
just in and nowt yet....

OK. Try this then. I've done some pitch-correction now. That's all
I'm doing, she isn't paying enough to spend any more time on it :-)
One side of the vocal's the Chinese tube mic on omni. Other's an NT1.
Which is which? Well, maybe you CAN'T tell solid-state from tube,
Rode from generic Chinese :-)
Her song's called "Maybe in the morning".

If the only difference between the two channels is the vocal mic, then
I have to tell you that the left one is broken. It has some serious
problems.

What are you hearing? It's a stereo mix, not a dual-mono
demonstration. There's plenty of differences between the channels.
But one contains one mic, one the other.
If you're getting glitches, download the whole file and play it from
your computer. It doesn't work at all well for me streaming.
I did download it. What I'm hearing is something high and whistly on
the left. In terms of the mic sound itself, the right hand one is a
bit brighter. This is all much easier with unaccompanied vocal, and of
course the tuning homogenizes the sound enormously.

Most interesting. Poor cow's got to follow Anna Netrebko (I'm on a Prom
break) so she's got no chance but a super bit of S&T!
I think I can tell the difference (chalk and cheese) but I'm afraid I
prefer the left channel and I'm certain it's the valve.
Goto the current end of the thread for my method....

I downloaded it and split the channels into two mono tracks - here are
short snippets:
http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/show...%20Channel.mp3
http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/show...%20Channel.mp3
The differences are chalk and cheese and I prefer the Left Channel.
(Swim prefers the Right, but there ya go!)
Compared with the Left Channel, the Right has no treble (air, if you
like) and there are very high notes that are so recessed they are almost
completely missing (at 1 and 3 seconds in and various thereafter), the
voice sounds richer but is somewhat lost in the mix and the backing is
almost a monotone. The Left Channel wins by a mile in my book!
I'll get me coat....
(And finish the Proms!! :-)

I know the channels are very different, and the left sounds brighter
(and has the whistly stuff going on), but I think the right hand
*vocal* is a bit brighter. Trouble is the fine detail that really
tells you is necessarily buried in the backing.

Delete that - on a last listen over the speakers I don't think it is
lost and Swim thinks the Left Channel is 'smoothed over'....
