At the moment we have an old set of computer speakers running out of the
line out from a walkman type cd player. The sound is awful and we need
volume to get decent sound but I'm thinking the upstairs neighbours don't
think much of this.

Got the feeling that a decent set of speakers would mean we could get the
clarity, separation and frequency response without needing volume...

So, any ideas? Looked about on ebay but really we could do with some first
hand recommendations. Partner is in love with her Bose in ear headphones
(non sound cancelling) and is set on Bose... But my own feeling is we could
do much better by avoiding the Bose hype..

What do you lot do at bedtime, when it's real late, neighbours just above,
below or sideways?
