Has anybody any info on sound bars particularly the Denon models? Looks
like a good and smart idea but will it work properly. Don't wish all the
wires and speakers of normal 5.1 surround, medium living room 5 x 4
metres.
Would this be ok?
Through an unusual set of circumstances, I ended up being the owner of the
Niro Reference system:

Trust me, I didn't loose my mind and pay even a tiny fraction of the list
price for it. ;-)
I have it set up in my second floor enclosed front porch, which is off the
master bedroom suite.
The porch is about 12 x 12 x 9. More than 50% of the wall space is glass
(sort of overlooks Lake St Clair off about a mile and a half). There is a
large opening into the far larger sleeping area. The floor is resilient
tile, while the walls and ceiling are drywall. It is furnished with two Ikea
bentwood lounge chairs and a small wooden table.
Right now, the sound of the system is dominated by the horrid acoustics of
the room. The room is so reverberant that piling some dirty clothes on the
floor actually reduced the excess reverberation a bit.
The Niro Reference can get to be amazingly loud. It sounds better in the
next room, which has a king bed and therefore is quite a bit less
reveberent. I hope to get some acoustic treatments in place, and I'll report
back when I do.
