There has not been in the 10 years I've been assisting at funerals. The
day it is requested I will ring up the licencing authorities and add it
to the licence. Seems silly to pay for something which is not being
used.

situation that is criminalising a massive slice of humanity by supplying
music and the means to freely copy and distribute it and then squealing
about 'piracy' in much the same way as someone who is involved (in any way)
with the motor industry when it is supplying vehicles which will do damn
near *twice* the legal speed limit in this country! In both these cases
there is a heavy duty of self-regulation placed upon ordinary members of the
public, which is not the same burden for everyone, given their different
personalities and personal circumstances.....



I behave quite honourably on this (I hope) - as you would expect since I
earn my living by creating copyrighted material. On the closing screen
of my software it says "Please ensure that all music printed with Music
Publisher is free of composer's or other copyright". Anyway it's my
experience that musicians are acutely aware of the problems and justice
of copyright and keep to the rules. But churches often are not and
that's the point at issue.

sides'. I hope their pugnacity will be tempered if I say that I accept what
you say is perfectly correct in principle and would hope that you might
agree with me that it is a bit of mess in practical terms which could be
entirely alleviated by a little 'organisation' by the agencies/organisations
involved - i.e. Churches that allow the practice of recorded music being
played should apply for the appropriate licence and/or the bloody MI could
universally declare funeral services to be an exception.
