Ah - that would explain all the tourists, then. I always wondered why
they seem to be smiling all the time; must actually be grimaces of
hatred.

The SM58 is a variant of the SM57 designed specifically for close vocal
use. It has a built-in windshield, which is not entirely effective, and
has a built in LF roll-off filter to compensate for proximity effect.

** ******** !!

Both mics have a strong proximity effect at close range.

Of course they do, they are cardioids ....

** Stupid, utterly literal word for word interpreation

- no appreciation of context.

Just another reason to keep 'vocal' mics for vocal, oh potty mouthed one.

Know nothing ****S like this pommy puke should all just
go stick their pointy AUTISTIC heads in a gas oven and suck.
ASAP.

But we do apparently know not to use 'vocal' mics for general purpose.
What's your excuse for being so ignorant?

That's why anything more than 6 inches from an SM58 sounds so bass light.

** ********.

Both mics were designed over 50 years ago, at about the time microgroove
records and FM radio were just getting started, and most people still
used 78s and AM.

** As massive " red-herrings " go, that particularly ASININE one

has got to take the ****ING CAKE !!!!!

They both have pronounced peaks and troughs in their frequency
responses,

** More asinine ******** !!

especially in the 'presence' region, causing a distinctive
and obvious colouration.

vocal mics ever sold - including the famous Sennnheiser 421.

The context here is that Shure build these mics specifically for close
vocal work. They build in a highpass filter to allow them to give a
reasonably flat output despite the huge proximity effect. Try and
understand how this works.

The context here is...

** Like all autistics retards, Don simply has no ****ing idea what the
relevant context is.

( it's only three words )

There is no point in informing him of it, cos he simply cannot see it.

Be like trying to explain the Mona Lisa to a man blind from birth.

Why do you (and others) persist in attempting rational
conversation with this dysfunctional, sad little man? There
is *nothing* to be gained by being the current target of his
vile, vitriolic abuse and surely you must have better things
to do e.g. empty the cat tray, remove belly button lint,
watch paint dry etc ;-)

Cheers TT

It's like prodding snakes. Sometimes you just get bored and fancy some
fun.
