If audio is, ostensibly, for listening to music then why do you need to
trust anything but your ears?

Of course it did!! .... especially when it was recalled.

That was the recall to add the spoiler to the rear end so that

I suppose the early TTs did emulate the 911 in the stability dept.

Yep! We are definitely in TT territory.

Perhaps we can finally drop the "o" and call this uk.rec.audi :-)

Nah, VAG just ran scared of being sued by incompetent drivers. The
early ones were beautiful to drive, and IMO looked a lot better
without the spoiler. If you back off in a high-speed corner, you
*should* spin a well-balanced car.....................

Not so - that's a function of poor weight distribution and or poor
suspension design. The natural reaction for any body is to continue in a
straight line.

Depends on the power train layout. For RWD, I expect understeer with
power off, and oversteer (the spin-out condition in the limit) with
power on. Neutrality should come with some intermediate throttle
setting.

For FWD, the opposite is normally true, with terminal understeer
induced by too much power.

With 4WD as on my S4, I expect the traction control to provide
something like neutrality over a fairly wide power band, but I do want
to be ably to induce oversteer when I need it - I never, ever want
understeer.

Your web page? Yes I can. It sounds like a list of big dick waving gear,
hence why I thought you were referring to yourself. Apparently it seems
important that your gear has a niche branding.

Notice Kurt's quick change of topic once he got batted down the zillionth
time for his "you guys don't listen" posturing.

You don't understand the dynamics of cornering.

Nice wish list, but as I noted, if you *back off* a well-balanced car
in mid-corner, you transfer weight from rear to front, increasing
front grip and reducing rear grip. Unless you do something dramatic
really quickly, you spin. Racing cars, being very finely balanced for
ultimate grip and cornering speed, will certainly spin if so abused.

For FWD, the opposite is normally true, with terminal understeer
induced by too much power.

And by noseheavy mass distribution. The FWD BTCC cars are really
cunningly designed to be neutral under power.

With 4WD as on my S4, I expect the traction control to provide
something like neutrality over a fairly wide power band, but I do want
to be ably to induce oversteer when I need it - I never, ever want

Well hard luck, because with a noseheavy road car like the S4 (and my
A6), you *inevitably* get lots of understeer on the limit. The
electronics do cheat a lot, but ultimately you canna' change the laws
o' physics, Cap'n...............

But it is still chuckable - and of course there is the handbrake.
