I, for one, wouldn't dream of telling you your system is crap. Others may
go by brands, but I prefer to hear things before judging. And if you say
you like the sound of what you have that's all that matters.

But if you'd said - with the usual flowery language - just how much
better your valves and vinyl sounded to any digital, that would be
different and invites argument.

It tends to be the same here all the time - the flames start when people
make outrageous statements about long obsolete technology - especially
when they weren't around at the time it was current and remember its flaws.

Quite so.

Hmm. The 3.8 had a sweeter engine, but was ruined by that dreadful old
Moss box. The Jag all synchro one was a *vast* improvement. As was the
build quality of the 4.2 - not that that's saying much.

Nicely put, and dead on the money. Beautiful to look at (and listen
to), but *always* a rust-bucket, and even the last of the V12s were
thrown together by headless monkeys.............

Never much like the Healey. Dreadful steering and poor handling on
anything other than a billiard table. Fun, maybe, but not a car to live
with every day.

One of the prettiest sports cars ever built, but should *definitely*
be left on the drive to be admired in the summer sunshine, while you
take the Elise for a spin.................

I know it's called a hairdresser's car, but the MX5 is the modern
interpretation of what the original British sports car tried to be -
inexpensive but fun to drive and usable everyday. The Elise is strictly a
weekend fun car.

Yeah, I'd just *lurrve* one of these little beasties!

At one time my spreadsheets (getting on for 20 years ago - 'Multiplan'

or
summat?) told me I had over £10K's worth of tyres on the road at any one
time and my drivers spent £27 a month on 'Dandidash' (cab cleaner in
aerosols).....

Ok, you win. At least they all smelt reasonably interesting :)

Gee whiz, vinylstars in unreasonably priced cars!

The cars cost nowt compared with cost of the Mercedes and Seddon-Atkinson
lorries........

Suck on this then - AFAIAC, my valves and vinyl **** on any digital music I
have ever heard including a £3K CDP. - Better resolution, better tone, more
'life', better soundstaging, better in every other respect and all well
within the range of my hearing.........

If you'd been skilled as well as careful, you'd have been designing
and building solid-state amplifiers! :-)

Instead of working in, say, a bank?

Probably, but since I've never worked in a bank, I wouldn't know.....

Okay, a bank's datacentre then!

Wrong again, it's called an OMC..........

But then I guess you're used to being wrong!

But I'm not wrong am I Pinky?

It's an Output Management Centre, i.e. we do all the printed output
for customers, plus CDs, tapes and electronic data feeds. The data
centres are somewhat different, and are scattered for security and
redundancy. However, this has sod all to do with audio.

You have the right to be wrong................... :-)

Personal preferences are just fine, just don't try to justify them
with technobbable bull****. As Dave said. Specifically, don't post
crap such as 'better resolution' for a medium which in *fact* has at
least ten times *worse* resolution.

If you're sitting comfortably, I might even explain exactly *why* you
might have been fooled into thinking that this is the case. Again, for
about the tenth time...............
