Default Design a better analogue system

Except that it's not analogue. Duh..................

By the time it comes out of the back of the player / DAC and into the power
amp, it is.

What IS this endless fascination with methods of playback that wear the
media and degrade its future performance? CD, DVD audio etc. provide a
format that is not damaged by playing.

There's nothing WRONG with digital.

Well, given that the best CDs (as a group) that I've heard are all
made from analogue tape masters, I guess that would be a 'no'.

?? Odd control group there. Most recent CDs will have been digitally
sourced. I'd be surprised to hear about anybody mastering to analogue
these days, though I'm sure it probably happens now and then ...

It's rare, but it does happen:

This lists a few you may have heard.

No argument there. But the chances are on the whole, if you pick up an
LP it's likely to have had a digital source. Digitial is just so much
quicker and easier for these things.

Nobody is saying that there is, but the question asked was if there
was a better *analogue* system than LP. There is, it's called 1/2
track open-reel tape.
